Roccagloriosa an ancient Lucanian village important for the military strategic position: overlooking the valleys of the Mingardo and Bussento rivers.
The village offer a panoramic view: Mount Cervati, Mount Bulgheria, the medieval village of San Sevrino di Centola and its castel, the Gulf of Policastro and the Calabrian-Lucanian coast.
The visit starts with a walking tour through the streets of the village. O the way two antiquaria set up in the historic centre of the village, which offer a picture of the artefacts found in the excavations.
In the Church of Santa Maria ad Martyres (Via Borgo S. Antonio), is located the antiquarium. We can admire the splendour of some rich funeral trousseaus with jewellery and metal weapons, bronze and terracotta pottery. In the other small museum space at Piazza del Popolo, the large painted vases discovered in monumental tombs in the area stand out.
