Living Museum of the Sea

The Museum is run from January of 2013 by Legambiente Onlus and represents one of the structures most visited museum and teaching of the Campania region. And 'it hosted at the Palazzo Vinciprova, historical building placed under monumental protection delMinistero for Arts and Culture.
The Castle , as it is called by the inhabitants of poplars, was built in the seventeenth century by the family Ripoli originating merchants of Catalonia but settled in Pollica during the rule of the Aragonese in Naples.
In 1888 he belonged to Joseph Sodano, Pollica ladies, who later sold it to Vinciprova of Omignano.
To this family belonged Pier Leone (said Leonino), the official one of the " Mille" in the famous expedition of Garibaldi , which will retain the "red shirt", the sword and the hat right at the museum.
It is said that Alexandre Dumas (father), the famous French novelist, the l 15 September 1860 landed with the schooner "Emma" in front of the Vinciprova Palace to deliver about 400 rifles to Garibaldi's Mille through the Leonino Vinciprova , confidant hero of the two worlds.
In 1986 the building was sold to Vinciprova Pollica by Professor Lidia Vinciprova, the last heir of the family.
